Hello!

We've got a 7 acre hobby farm in ND and are just getting our start. We're looking for suppliers of egg-layers in our area and possibly some broilers (I planned to order from freedom rangers to at least give this chicken thing a go...). We are really wanting humanly raised livestock and not the TSC special that is available locally.

Any pointers for winter-hardy breeds and 'pasturing' chickens is much appreciated! Also - if someone is in our area and sells, we'd love to connect with you!

! Great to have you in our flock! I hear you folks are experiencing some brutal cold up there! Stay warm!
In terms of breeds that are suited to cold weather - those with small combs fare better - Orpingtons, Rocks, Wyandottes among others are good. You can do a search for breeds with the traits you seek in the link below.
