So I may seem crazy, but I have found a few "hard boiled" eggs in the carton that we did not hard boil. The eggs were collected fresh (from my chickens), cleaned and put in the fridge. Not sure why this is happening. The egg is solid like a hard boiled one. Could it be that they are getting hot in the coop and causing this? Has anyone had this happen as well?

Hi, welcome to BYC.

I think someone is playing a practical joke on you. An egg is not going to hard boil in the coop.

You don't have a hot tub do you?

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I look on here all the time and decided to join today.

I thought the same thing at first, but it has happened several times now. Even eggs that we gave to people. At one point I thought we mixed some up, I really don't get it. The eggs are solid, like hard boiled. The yolk is against the shell, and the white is solid. The one I had this morning had a little runny spot in it, but otherwise solid. The shell sticks to the shell as well.

Really wish I had some explanation, but this is a mystery.

Do you have a picture to post. Could it be a lash egg?

Never heard that one before.

Do the white and yolk look just like a hard boiled egg?

Agrees, pics are needed.

Just looked up lash eggs. Its not that. The yolk and white look just like hard boiled, but just a little runny spot. If I can figure it out I will post pics. I even checked with family again to see if someone hard boiled some and mixed them up. They all said no, unless they are messing with me, which I don't think is the case. I think we are going to throw out all eggs in the fridge and start over to see if we get any more.

I know it seems like a joke, but I don't know who or how it would happen.
