Hard crop in morning and weird poops

My hens get very fussy with food when they are feeling poorly and/or moulting. I had one hen who only ate lettuce and cucumber seeds for awhile. Good on you for caring so well for Crumpet. The worms could definitely have caused the crop blockages and lost weight.

I do wonder whether they are choosing the foods that are most beneficial to them at the time - I’ve never seen her so desperate for kale and spinach!

Most likely.
If given the choice, I've noticed molting birds seem to really like greens too (more than normal).

That’s very interesting! I figured if they eat oyster shells as they need them they probably know what else they need.
