I have 6 adult laying chickens (2 silver laced wyondottes, 4 australorps), 4 teenage chickens (barred rock) which haven't started laying yet, and a wyondotte rooster. I'm only getting about 2-3 eggs. Plenty of light oyster shells, water. Not sure what's going on =\

weather can happened , moulting? changed of food ? list can go on. its normal. for them not to lay once in a while. feed them their favorite scraps of food and hopefully you will find more eggs !

Mine stopped laying 5 days ago. It's thier first summer so I assumed it was the heat. I put in a small wading pool, a fan inside the coop, upped thier favorite snacks and put in a 2nd waterer. Still, only getting one egg.... I sure hope this non laying is temporary cuz I've done everything. Lol. I even put out frozen water bottles, they were scared of them. Ha ha ha. Any ideas or suggestions?

do the best you can during the summer ! I live in the desert and once in a while I like to squirt water on them ! They dont like to be sprayed ,but they know it helps them ! give them treats like watermelon or canteloupes. they love it!. most importanly keep giving them clean water.

Also do they get out and free range everyday? Check your bushes-- a couple of my gals have gone broody and I found a nest with 14 eggs in the bushes.... Production is dropping off again as well and I am trying to decide if its d/t an early heat wave (it is almost a 100 but has jumped up 20 degrees in the last 10 days) or if there is another nest going on in the bushes, unfortauntly they are thick berry bushes and I am not too keen on going thru them in this heat...

Ok, after a week of being on struck my girls have decided to start laying again. It must have been the wading pool n fan u
I put it in. Im considering doing the same thing; no cooking meals unless I get a hot tub!!!! Lol
