hardware cloth and chicken wire?

Can i build a run with hardware cloth on the bottom (as it comes 50 feet long, 4 tall) and then chicken wire over the "cieling" plus the remaining foot-ish between the top of hardware cloth and the "cieling"? I plan on adding some shade features to the cieling. Also what size run for 6 leghorns if they leave their run a few hours a day and have a 1/2 acre to roam when "free" ?

Many have poultry wire with the bottom 3-4' covered with hardware cloth.
I chose to make a hoop run and cover the entire thing with HC.

i have thought of hoop design. TBH i dont have a hen house or run yet and cannot afford both brand new so i am looking at the cheapest DIY option. i dotn know how the hoop kind would attach to the hen house?

Just keep in mind that raccoons can easily chew through chicken wire and they climb very well.

oh i like that,how id you affix the door/wall to the hoop part, and the hoop to the hen house?

IIRC, I have around $900.00 invested in both the coop and run. I used ruff cut lumber from a local sawmill for the framing to save money.

If you look closely, there's a 2x4 horizontally just below the ridge beam. I lifted the opposite end until that 2x4 was flat against the coop, and screwed it through the siding into the interior studs.
