Hardware cloth over windows? Opinions please.

I have a secondary door into my coop that had just screen in it. I added hardware cloth this weekend.
The set up is like this:
Go in door 1 and close behind you.
Open door 2 into area where chickens are and close behind you.
Imagine my surprise (and theirs) when I opened door 1 to find they had pushed the screen out of door 2.

I will always have hardware cloth on any opening I do not want them going through.

yes use the hardware cloth it is well worth it just knowing your chicks are safe.

I'd have hardware cloth over every single nook and cranny possible! My husband thins I'm over cautious too.

I know this is an older thread but wanted to add my 2 cents. Years ago I had a really big barn on the property where I lived. My ex jerk of a bf set a jaw trap and left town (he was a trucker). I had no idea. The next day or two I went out and a coon had gotten trapped in the jaw trap and climbed, with that trap on his leg, all the way to the top of the barn (inside). It was probably taller than a 2 story house. I had to call a friend to come out and shoot the poor coon. So I would say yes, they can climb, with or without a jaw trap stuck on their leg.
