Hardware cloth specs?

I only counted eight zillion... you must have more stores in Cleveland. For my so called coop (they only roost in there) I use 1/2" hardware cloth over any opening bigger than 1/2" to make sure even the smallest predator could not get in at night while my girls are sleeping. For my run I used a mix of 1" x 2" and 1" x 1" to protect them in the mornings before the sun comes up and I let them out in the yard. The yard has a 5' chain link fence that is getting hot wires...

Honestly most of them are the same, regardless of brand. I think 19 gauge is standard? I have 1/2" HWC in multiple sizes (24" 36" 48") as I use them for everything from chicken needs to protecting the garden beds and composter. Can't say I've noticed any difference from one brand to the next.

Believe it or not, we started using 1/4in hardware cloth for ALL of our chicken tractors/doors/etc. Because for some reason gnats don't seem to go through it much, and we have not had any sick/dead chickens from gnats since switching.

Are you sure they were gnats, I've never heard of this? Also 1/4" cloth is a thinner gauge.
