Hey guys I dont know if this is the right place to post but here goes. My mom was told by a co worker that a dog cannot stay, or be housed in an old chicken coop or it will kill the dog. I could see this happening from ammonia build up, but a coop that is vacant for a while shouldnt have any buildup. Any truth to this at all, or have any idea what she would be talking about, thanks.

Never heard of that. Ammonia fumes bad enough to kill a dog would kill chickens faster. Chickens have a much more specialized respiratory system, and require more air flow than your average mammal.

I have no idea what the answer is....but I'm betting that whomever said that got this story as a child... "No, you can't have a dog because the only place we could keep him would be the old chicken coop and everyone knows that dogs will die if they stay in an old chicken coop!" Just guessing.......
