Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

I also will add that if it is cold where you are, as it is here, make sure you set the incubator in a warm place. At first I tested it in an upstairs bedroom, and it could not get warm enough. Then I tried in our relatively warm basement (on a high desk, not on the floor) and it worked fine.

What was too cold for the incubator to stabilize? I'm just curious. My house is about 67-68F right now but I haven't tried to run it in much colder temps than that.

If you're having issues with one not keeping temperature I would definitely exchange it. I have had three NR360s and all have been great but that's not saying lemons aren't out there so if you're having issues from the get-go, I would return it.

I returned it today, and was able to get the newest clear dome top one! Yea!

You definitely need to calibrate one of your thermometers so that you can check it against the others. I use digital thermometers for ease of use but it's my little cheap meat thermometer that I take the time to calibrate and check against the digital ones. I prefer to use digital but they're nowhere near as reliable.

Here is an article on calibrating thermometers.

And this is the little meat thermometer that I have found to be EXTREMELY reliable. It's cheap and to me, it has been worth way more than that price because I've gone through about 10+ digital thermometers and this meat thermometer is still going strong so I continue to use it to calibrate the digitals that I can't submerge. lol

I’m not too close to a Walmart but that’s the one I will get when I can. Nice big dial! i picked up a kitchenAid version today but it’s got a stinky tiny dial! :he I did calibrate it and compared it to my ThermoPen but I’ll probably take it back as soon as I can & get the other. I’ll use a combination of it and the thermopen tonight to compare to the rest of them.

As far as the egg that looks cracked, it could be that it cracked before she laid it. I believe they're called "body checked" eggs? Don't quote me on that but it's something along those lines. If an egg is damaged while still "in production" it will be repaired before being laid and can give that appearance.

Thank you, that’s very enlightening. I’ll look into it more.

Have you tried candling at night or in a dark closet? Candling in the light can make it extremely difficult to see what's in the egg. When I'm unsure about an egg I just sniff it to make sure it isn't stinky, put a question mark on it and place it back in the incubator to check in a few days.

Yes. That’s when I first saw it, but I forgot to take a picture of it then. I wanted to show my neighbor what it was so took the picture then. I will try to get one tonight, that cabin gets dark enough I was just too busy to do it last night. Smelled ok.

Last but not least, I didn't read the article you posted but turning eggs during early incubation is very important for development. The only time I treat an egg differently is when the air cells are completely detached and floating around like a bubble. In that case I will leave the egg upright and gently hand tilt the egg a few times a day. With both saddled and jiggly air cells, I have found that I get the best hatch rates when I put them in the turner as usual. I hope that helps, good luck on your hatch!

I’m planning on activating the turners as soon as I move the eggs back into the new bator. Either tonight or tomorrow.

What was interesting about that Alabama article and why I decided to go that route for a few days was the endangered species hatching studies they did report-ably gave them the best results. And I’m cheap, so I want to get as many feather babies as I can. :love

Thank you so very much! :hugs
I will come back later tonight and add pictures.

The new 360 I picked up today fired right up and seemed to stabilize at 99.5 and about 40% humidity within a few hours. I had to choose between letting it run for 24 hours or getting the egg turner going. I didn’t see any improvement in the eggs with detached air sacks so I chose to get them rotating. We’ll see how it goes.
I candled about 6-7 eggs and took a few pictures. I think I will do another candling and weighing of all the eggs later this week.

Of course I absolutely love the new 360 design with the see through lid. I’m even contemplating upgrading my other one, but not until this hatch is done.

Last egg of this hatch. It's pipped and looks good. This was from a batch of shipped eggs that were in transit with the USPS for 10 days. 1/12 arrived cracked. Only 2/12 developed. One of those quit late. Only this one egg remains. :fl

Just to avoid any potential singleton comments I have other newly hatched chicks it'll be added with.

Good luck :fl
Lol, I’ve got day old chicks coming the day after mine hatch too.
8 of them (BA roosters) plus the shipping are gratis from the hatchery that gave me all pullets last year by mistake. They asked me to fill out the box of 25 with something else which they gave me for wholesale price. They just started carrying the American Bresse last year so that’s what I ordered. So either way I will get some.
