Have you checked the blasto disc on the yolk as you break eggs to eat?
I did but most laid a couple weeks ago. My silkies aren’t prolific layers so I didn’t want to crack to many fresh eggs open checking for fertility. I did have a couple left over that were laid this week and they were fertile. He’s been in there with them about a month. Time will tell if it’s been long enough. Prior to that I separated the roosters and hens for a month so I could specifically have eggs fertilized by him.

Fingers crossed! :fl

Thank you. That is what I thought. It’s going to make it a little more difficult to zero in on how much to add to keep humidity consistent. With just 4oz I have to close the vent to 1/3 to keep it in the 30’s. But yesterday I added a full 4oz when I refilled and it right at mid 40’s with vent fully open. Which is perfect. I will have to see if I add a full 4 oz every evening if that works.

I had an excellent hatch with my Nurture Right. Checked temp and humidity, and humidity read 4% low, so I accounted for that throughout the incubation.

Received seven shipped eggs. Five had wiggly air cells so I waited 24 hours before putting them in. Kept humidity between 25 and 40% easily with reservoir A filled and the vent fully open. At candling on day 7 there were five strong heartbeats, one early quitter, and one blood ring.

At lockdown I did not fill chamber B, just closed the vent a little to get humidity between 50 and 55%. Was able to candle enough through the clear plastic walls to monitor the air cells which looked great heading into hatching.

Four hatched out with no difficulties. On day 22, with no sign of external pip in the fifth egg, I removed the four chicks and pulled the last egg to check it. Immediately felt movement and heard it peep and candling showed it had pipped internally, so put it back in the incubator.

Twenty-four hours later there was still no external pip so I pulled it out to check it again. No movement, no sound. Made the decision to assist, just in case it was still alive. When I opened the egg it became apparent the chick had a developmental defect and would never have lived, and was actually amazed it had made it as far as it had.

So overall very impressed with this incubator. As always, check the temp and humidity readouts against calibrated thermometers and hygrometer before setting eggs. I also cut a piece of nonslip shelf liner to cover the grid to protect little toes and beaks.
