Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

Unrelated to the OP...but I thought you guys might find this interesting:

Bummer...but not really surprising. Thanks for posting this.
120°F is pretty standard for plate temp, some are hotter and chicks have been burned.
This has long been a problem, some of the first ones out of the UK had rheostats to adjust temps but they were not available here.
Even the heating pad on my pseudo plate is that hot right at the wires,
but the cloth coating prevents burns.

You're really not getting more surface area due to the window.
They are supposed to touch the heated surface to get warm, just like with mama.
You can see how many chicks would fit under...maybe 2-3-4 of the 4wo's

Are the thumb screws threaded into the plastic....
....and the plastic threads are failing when you try to tighten them down?
Max height looks low.

Might be good to start a new thread in the chick forum about this plate?
I wonder if anyone else has tried it?

Surface area seems reasonable, and the chicks in the middle will be getting body heat from the other birds. I'm also thinking the RentACoop tops will help retain some ambient heat.

The clips at the top are failing (the circle that holds the top together). The thumbscrews are threaded into plastic yes...but they aren't breaking yet. They just don't stay tight. Basically since there's no 'give' in the metal leg post...the metal thumb screw doesn't get any torque/preload. It literally just screws down on to it, and the plastic threads do nothing to hold it..

I'll probably write a full review and post it, but I'm waiting for the manufacturer to reply. With a better leg system this would be a great unit.

You didn't lol. It's advertised at 3500lm, lol. It's the fine print that says 1200.
I knew going in.

It's such a pain in the butt looking for flashlights. Everyone has a name full of hype, 3000, 10000, 5000, whatever and half of them look almost exactly the same and seem like generic knockoffs of each other.

I was looking for a brand name with a lumen number that was over 1000, figuring that would be better made and suitable for my purposes. I don't need to harness the sun for any really dark eggs, I'd just like a clearer picture especially at 7 days.

The clearance light from TSC was a big step up from the Little Giant light specifically sold as a candler. That light claimed 500 lumens (Little Giant I think is 250 or something like that), so I'm sure 1200 will blow me away.

On another note, I found my pearl Guinea's nest and incubated a bunch of those eggs along with 12 shipped lavenders. I thought some of them were kind of large, but they were the right shape and I never see the chickens around where the nest was.

So of course 4 of them were chicken eggs, very evident from their development... and the actual pearl Guinea eggs seemed to be mostly unfertilized. On the bright side, only 2 of the 12 shipped lavenders had nothing developing.

I think you'll be pleased with the sofirn.

I once had a duck, a chicken, and a turkey all sitting on one giant nest full of...you guessed it, each type of egg. I have a pic I've posted in a few threads of all of them sitting together.

OMG, I'm so excited you guys...I candled a couple of eggs tonight, which is a no-no in lockdown, I know...*hangs head* but I saw 4 internal pips! It's day 19 and these are my first ever incubated eggs. I was so not expecting to be greeted by shadow beaks tonight. :love

Fingers crossed for a great hatch!

That's awesome!!

Tomorrow is day 14...so I get to candle and see how much damage my hours long heat spike did.

Keeping my fingers crossed for sure!
