And here I just commented on your page thinking they were Ameraucana's lol. Teach me to open my mouth before the conversation is over!!
Adorable chick btw, if no one told me different, I'd fully believe you had an Ameraucana there, vs an EE!
On the incubator...I'd bought a (worthless) Farm Innovations 4250 from Tractor Supply a few days ago. They gave me a USED unit. Cords all over, assembled, dirty finger prints, no accessory thermometer, etc. My eggs (14 Ameraucana and 6 Ayam Cemani) were arriving in a day or so though...so I had no time to get a new one. The 4250 seemed to be holding temp, though I knew it was 2.5° off or so with compared to my 4 pole thermocouple and a thermo hygrometer I'd placed in an egg cup). I just corrected with the temp adjustment. Once I put eggs in it (Friday night at about 10pm) though...it showed its real colors. Temp dropped straight to 98°F(read 100.5°F)...and wouldn't climb even after an hour and a half. So I adjusted it half a degree up (read 101°), and it shot to an actual 102°F (read 104.5°). Adjust it half a degree down...and we're at 98°. So I drove an hour and twenty minutes today to the closest Tractor Supply that had one of these 360's in stock (a friend recommended I try one yesterday). Get it home and open it...and what do I have? A version 2, USED incubator. Smudgy fingerprints, tape missing, cords unraveled. I couldn't call because they were closed by then...and I couldn't leave my $90 in eggs in a malfunctioning incubator. Sooooo I bleached it out, set it up....plugged it in, added a small bit of water...and it came right up to temp. I let it sit about 2hrs...and swapped the eggs over.
My only complaint so far is it seems to be REALLY noisy. Other than that it's a great unit. I'm going to switch it out for a version 3 (which is what I asked the guy if he had before driving through two states to get it) on day 10 though...since I need to pull the eggs to candle anyway. But all in all, I like it WAY more than the very cheaply made, very much over priced 4250.

Wow what an ordeal!! Glad you got those precious eggs in the incubator on time. How are they doing? I have the 3.0 and it's barely noisy, we had it in the bedroom and we could sleep fine. I think you will be happy, I really am. As for my chicks I thought my hen may be an Ameraucana because she fits the general description of muff, beard, light blue eggs and obviously carries blue but another group told me she's an EE. Here is a picture of her and the chicks that are 2 weeks now.
Wow! What a headache! I have a version 2, 3, and 4. The newest version is actually the NU1 I think it's called, it's the dome top model. I dropped my version 4 (the newest one I have) and that's now my noisy incubator. I suspect the fan is unlevel now but it still works well. Maybe not right now but you may be able to take the top apart and fiddle with some parts to make it quieter again. Good luck on your hatch!
She has the EE look...but I can definitely see Ameraucana too. Maybe she's a cross?
It's been frustrating for sure lol. I called another 50 mile away store today, and went over a solid description of the version I wanted (the Ver. 1.0NU is what it is, but I didn't know that until later today). Turns out, talking about a 'smaller lid' and describing it like 'A cookie jar vs tupperware' to the poor woman didn't help. I got there, it was a version 3.0. I told her the story, then I made her plug it in and I bought it lol. She totally understood...and actually looked up the instruction sheet off of their service info after I pointed out the one I actually wanted online. That's how I found out the version number. It's currently running empty to preheat all the plastic and internals prior to switching the eggs over.
The eggs seem to be doing ok. I just don't quite have the confidence that experience brings when it comes to candling, and overall temperature effects etc. My thermometer/hygrometer seems to read about 1°F to 1.5°F lower than these units (If the NR360's read 99.5°F, my internal unit reads around 98°F). It's been calibrated (well, my thermocouple has anyhow, and it matches that) at freezing and boiling, and is within half a degree. I don't know whether I should just add a bit to calibrate the internal unit, or toss it out and trust the machine lol.
I've got a video uploading I took today showing both side by side. When it gets done I'll post it.
It's possible, got her from a feed-store she was actually a free replacement for a Lavender I lost and she's my favorite hen. They are cross chicks anyway so no biggie!
Oh geeze well glad you got one that works! I didn't bother using my hydrometer in the 3.0 I just went with it and 19/20 made it to hatch. 2 passed zipping but 17 healthy fluffs! The group I have in now are day 6 and look amazing. Good luck!
I hope I'm ANYWHERE NEAR 17/20 lol! Not likely between shipped eggs, and all the bumbling around lol. But we'll see...and thanks!!
On the incubators...here's the video I made yesterday:
And one I made just now. I switched the eggs at 6am, and it's been running with them in it for 3hrs now.
So, other than the temperature discrepancy, so far so good. Now we just let it run until it's done!
Could be the bators temp sensor is located higher?other than the temperature discrepancy
