I make ultra high end culinary knives for a living!...and have been ranch cooking since I was 5 lol. Just kinda natural to me now.

I also make the carbon steel pans...so that doesn't hurt .

I WISH I could have found local Biele eggs! I'm planning to keep a small flock of them (if my eggs hatch ok, if not I will get more) and I'll let a Biele roo cover a few Red Ranger hens I'm raising up on regular laying feed. Hopefully if they last a few years I can get some of their genetics into a true DP/utility breed and be in a better position to feed my bottomless pit of a teenager.

While I'd love to have some of the hard to find breeds to sell eggs and chicks here, finished pen space is still a little limited so I have to focus on being able to self sustain meat and eating eggs first.

*sigh* I sooo miss my last farm and barn. I had plenty of well fenced acres and a nice big barn
Here....less acres and only New Zealand type fencing. Barn...I guess one could call it that...while it's still upright.
But, the trade off is no more mortgage! Yay! And for that I'm very thankful.

I would love to have so many more chickens than I do, but we don’t have room for many more. If I do get more I’ll have to set up the second coop. I’m thinking of getting 2 dozen eggs from the seller, 8 of each breed, keeping a pair of each breed, and sell the rest.

Does anyone of a reference of what a correct size air cell should look like day 7 or 8?

The 3 I put in lockdown with higher humidity turned out exactly the same... but I figure it was to late in the game to help those with the switch?

Now I’m looking at what’s left in my other incubator and I have eggs on day 3, 5, 7, 8, and day 17
