Has any of your birds had a weird friend?

My bobtailed tuxedo cat, Butler, is very good with all manner of feathered babies. He's a great barn mouser, but somehow he knows that the peeping bird babies are not to be killed.

Kota, my Anatolian Shepherd, having a deep soul-searching staredown with a silkie.

Our horses are very interested in the silkies, moreso than the 'normal' chickens.

And, of course, my birds probably consider my nephew to be a weird friend. He especially loves the cuddly silkies (and who wouldn't?!)

My silkie bantam became friends with a thrasher.
Mine did quite the opposite... a thrasher nested in the apple tree several yards from the silkie pen this summer. One of the babies, not yet old enough to fledge, fell out of the nest, and managed to hop its way over into the silkie pen, which was a terrible move because it was full of extremely protective hens with chicks. They killed the unfortunate creature within seconds. By the time I realized what was going on, it was already dead. Silkies are adorable, but get in between them and their chicks, and they become scary!

That's pretty cool. You keep your pigeons and chickens together?
Yes. They are in a huge coop / aviary house.

My chickens are only small.........they are Japanese Bantams.

I keep fantail doves, and old Dutch Capuchines with them. Also one pair of king pigeons (that are much bigger than my bantams - they are the ones that hatched out the bantam chick.

My pigeons and chickens get on very well together - they even roost together.

I have LOTS of nest boxes all over the place... Then they don't fight over places to lay their eggs.

The pigeons food is hung up high... not easy for the chickens to get too. The chickens food is located on the coop floor.

My chickens probably think I'm the weirdest friend they've ever had lol.
