Has anyone ever seen a silkie chick this vaulted? SAD UPDATE: HE DIED

Oh yeah I will definitely post pics when he is dried off. He is still in the bator wrapped up in a paper towel. Hope he finishing getting out of the shell soon.

Yea, seen chicks hatch out like that. Naturally and no problem hatching by themselves too. The vault usually 'fills out' to a more normal rounded shape later. (and can see whole head and neck in pic too..)

I would be extra careful with this silkie. Remember that the brain on this baby is basically outside of the skull and subject to severe damage with just a small bump.

I'm not sure that baby is ok...please keep us posted.

I just had a mixed Polish with a head like that(just a couple days ago), unfortunately it never zipped out and died after it pipped. When I took it out the shell, I thought the head was probably the reason.

I have been checking on him every 5 min. LOL. Hes still is in the shell I dont know if I should help him or not. Hopefully he will hatch so I dont have to help him.
