Has anyone had missing birds returning?

One time I had a dog attack and the roosters led all their groups of hens way out into the woods, they all returned before night though. I also had a dog chase one of the roosters off the property, I had to go to school but when I came back he had returned. I have never had a bird go missing for more than one night, 2 months is a lot of time, it kinda sounds like a fox got yours.
I’m glad they returned!

Dogs are never a problem here. They’re always super friendly, and never go to your yard. It’s also illegal to not leash your dog... but there are plenty of cats...
I have issues with both here... if it isn’t human and chicken aggressive dogs, it’s stupid cats attempting to eat my babies!

I think I have like 5 adult feral cats around right now and I have seen 4 kittens and another mom that was nursing. None of them have attacked the chickens yet. I had one neighbor whose dogs always got out, they even tried to maul one of my dogs once, fortunately labs are not that good at mauling things their own size.

Not me personally, but my neighbor had a hen come back almost a week after being taken by a fox. She was barebacked from where the fox grabbed her and was pretty roughed up. I think she was hiding in my woods during that time. She was the last of his flock - all others had been fox food before her. He didn't lock up her up or try to treat her wounds; he let her run loose and I assume the fox eventually got her for good.

Every year this neighbor gets a new flock knowing we have a bad fox problem, does not protect them, just chooses to feed the foxes! My next encounter with him is not going to be a good one!

Thats really sad! And after all that she had been through she ends up being taken again thats just sad.

I have seen a fox once at night but not in the day.

I saw a fox once at like 6 am, it was chasing one of my rabbits, the rabbit ran into a brush pile and was safe though, I spooked the fox and it ran off. I heard it coming from so far away, all the song birds were freaking out and mobbing it.
