Has anyone heard of or tried using paper bags for floors, counter tops, or stairs?

Neat!! But where to get all those paper bags? No place around here uses them anymore..

I've read that you can use contractors paper from the hardware store instead of the bags.

you could even get a cheap pad of drawing paper... white could be stained any color!

I've seen it used as wall paper before.

that is the neatest thing. Who eve suggested leaves, that is a good idea. can you imagine the beautiful pattern and colors leaves would make on a floor?!

I showed this to my husband.. were really thinking of doing this in our bathroom.
Could we just lay it over our old linoleum?
I love the way it looks! :)
Oh and it looks like she also spead out a layer of the glue?? Then layed the glue soaked paper down?
Or did she just soak the paper in the glue and lay it down..

I think she just soaked the paper with the glue and laid it down flat while making sure to remove the air bubbles.

I looked up about the linoleum and found this about it. http://www.ehow.com/how_7722159_instructions-paper-bag-flooring.html

I stumbled onto this site while looking for more paper floor examples. They talk about DIY projects and where to find all sorts of colors and patterns.

Thanks a lot for the link. It had a lot more designs/colors than I've came across so far. I love the green floor and blue wall. I didn't even know you could use this technique on bathroom sinks. I may have to try it on a bathroom sink my in-laws have that is starting to get worn out.

I haven't heard of the fabric floors but will have to look that up too.

First thought that ran into my head was "That must be decoupage!" Decoupage, the rage of the late 60's, early 70's. Take anything, cover it with enough liquid plastic or in this case, 8 coats of polyurethane, and there you have it. Used to be used for making wall hangings and some of the coolest table tops you ever saw. The liquid plastic wouldn't be good to use for a floor though of course.

I looked up the fabric flooring and now I'm interested in learning how to do it. Might save me hundreds or more doing this in certain parts of the house.

Yeah, it is. I just didn't know the name of it. After typing the name into the search it opened up a ton of ideas.

I even seen decoupage floor quilts.
