Has anyone heard of or tried using paper bags for floors, counter tops, or stairs?

I looked up the fabric flooring and now I'm interested in learning how to do it. Might save me hundreds or more doing this in certain parts of the house.

Yeah, it is. I just didn't know the name of it. After typing the name into the search it opened up a ton of ideas.

I even seen decoupage floor quilts.
OMG yes thank you for the word "Decoupage"!. That is what I am planning to do with my table, but I didn't know the name, so i have been struggling to find sites with ideas. After googling the word I found a lot of ideas!

I know that some people who have built strawbale houses and have concrete floors have used this paper bag flooring method. It looks great and lasts a long, long time.

My sister did something interesting with sheets in the house she was renting when her son was little. She used flour paste and covered his walls with the sheets. At that time Brett was big into firetrucks and firemen, so one wall was an inexpensive firetruck themed print. Then she made a fireman's ladder out of long strips of velcro and glued that to the sheet. All of his stuffed animals had a corresponding small strip of the velcro just tacked on. When he had to put his toys away his stuffed animals stuck to the velcro on the wall! He loved rearranging them to "save" someone, as if they were fireman responding to a fire. It was so cool! When she moved she just pulled away the sheet, used a mop with clear water and rinsed off the wall, and walked out of the room. She also did this with her daughters' rooms, using more feminine and age appropriate sheets. Necessity is the mother of invention!
