Has anyone noticed?

I have been a member of various internet forums and I have learned that the one thing you can count on is that membership will always be in a state of flux.

That being said, forums never stay the same. They change with their ever-changing membership.


Every forum I have ever been on has posts similar to this- the forum is changing, the people are different, they are not nice/funny/smart/insert adjective like they were before.

It is the nature of the beast.

i think you're right about the rudeness level going up a bit, my first response to my first post wasn't very polite. *sigh*

There's also that a lot of people don't think to click those sections. they just scroll down through "Recent posts"... And a lot of the new people are new chicken owners or someone who just doesn't know WHAT or HOW to say/help that person in that situation.. Then all of the new social threads and such get posts from the new people and the ones who can answer the emergency threads etc can't see them.

But that is what happens to every forum with a lot of people, and the best thing to do is ignore it.. Or leave the forum. I mean no offense to the new people/am not encouraging people to leave the forum. But that is the two questions it ends up coming down to "Do i ignore it, or do i leave it?" i've left quite a few forums because of it.


ETA: I do miss the old people as well though, the forum was great before everyone started pushing for all the new members, yes... People did push for this. And now you get what you ask for.. Maybe after they read these 10-20 posts about this though people will calm down and be more respectful.

After you've been reading the forum for a while you have pretty much gotten all your questions answered. People tend to be social creatures just like chickens. It is no surprise that the social forum is more popular. Political discussions tend to get hot. The population is under a lot of stress right now and a lot of people feel the need to express themselves. There is nothing wrong with an argument here and there. If we all had the same thoughts there would be no reason to talk.

I joined as soon as I found this place..Can say I've learned a whole lot about chickens and people..There does tend to be alot of rudeness goin around, but I guess its all in how you take it, some people are just blunt and really don't mean to come off that way, but thats just how they are. Then too its hard to show emotions when on the internet their is no "body laungage or tone" to help you determine how someone means something. I've learned real quick to just ignore alot of things. There will always be someone everywhere and in everything you do that is bound and determined to get under your skin, but learn to let it ride and ignore it , once they see their not goin to get a rise out of ya they loose interest. I've caught myself a few time on here with my blood boiling and Had to bite my tounge..Ya take the good with the bad I guess, But BYC is the best forum I've ever found..
