I had a good experience with Welp Hatchery.

If you don't want the minimum number of chicks, you could always list the extras on Craigslist for what you paid for them. It might be cheaper than getting them from MyPetChicken.

I had a great experience with McMurray. Chicks are at 3 weeks and I only lost one. It just never got going. All arrived alive and they put green gel in the box with the babies. They were hatched on Friday nite and I got them Sunday morning. I got a polish as a freebee and haven't decided yet what color she will be

I believe it was a gro gel. I've never bought any, but they put something in. The birds had to travel a fair ways to California from McM so they may have done it to help them travel okay.

Order from Ideal, cheaper, faster, actually cares about your satisfaction, and ive NEVER heard a bad thing about them. Oh and just to add (this is by other people not me)

Welp: Took too long for chicks and they all died, 2nd time they sent the wrong breed, 3rd time same mistake

Cackle: Sent to wrong post office, expensive, wrong order

I've never ordered from Welp, but if you need a lower cost/smaller order then Ideal might work for you. You can order as little as $20 in chicks (they do price, not quantity, for chickens) and their small order/boxing fees are very reasonable. I've thought of ordering from mypetchicken.com--and still might--but their $35 shipping fee is a bit much for me to afford right now.

I'm going to pick up some more feed store chicks tonight, they said the chicks they sell are from Welp. These ones apparently came in on the 12th, so they are two weeks old already. I'll let you know how they look.

I ordered from Ideal and had 3 die and 2 crossbeaked chicks and one with a really funky beak but I love them and they are all still in good health.

Well, I went ahead and ordered from Nature's Hatchery. I haven't really heard anything about them, but they would let me order just 10 chicks. I ordered 5 Mottled Houdans, and 5 Red Polish. The Red Polish actually belong to a friend of mine. They said they will call with the ship date. It should be in June. And shipping was only 15.00. I'll let you all know how it works out for me, ok? Thanks for all the advice though.
