Somewhere beyond the Rainbow...
Hi,

I just began raising pill bugs for my chickens (pill bugs are a Huge(!) fav of my chickens) but I was just wondering if anyone else has raised them before. If you have, then could you tell me the best way to do it?

Thanks!

No, my garden has so many of them that the ground there looks like something out of a horror movie when they emerge at night. There are so many that my chickens don't think they're very special. They are interesting though and if I lived in place that had very cold winters where my chickens couldn't forage for bugs I might think about it. Good luck!

How are you raising them? With fall right around the corner and a always unpredictable winter coming up I would love for my chickens to be able to eat live bugs during the winter. I have a "worm farm" kit that I'm going to start up but I Google raising bugs for chickens to eat and don't get to many results. I saw a thing about crickets but they need to be kept warm so not going to work in northwest Indiana If you can give me some tips that would be great. This will be our first winter with our girls.

You just put them inside during the winter. Look up taking care of pill bugs and you should get all the help you need. By the way, chickens hate snow so be ready!
