Has anyone seen this before? swollen cockrel leg

Thanks for your help.
I took him to the vet 2 days ago and it was infected. From most likely an injury given what i mentioned. The day i took him he had lost some colour on the right side of his face too. The vet said she wasn't confident in him getting better even if he went on pain meds and antibiotics twice a day for several weeks. I had him euthanized.
Bit bummed out actually.

I've put a question on a rooster article by RoostersAreAwesome about whether to introduce a friend to the barred rock or best to leave him on his own.. not sure if anyone here has had experience with lonely roosters or not lol

Thanks again

much appreciated

I'm so sorry you had to euthanize your roo. I know it wasn't easy. The infection appeared to be very far along. From the looks of that leg, he would have probably ended up losing it. Chickens will "wall off" infected extremities as a immune response to tissue destruction. I think you made the right call.

Roosters actually get along very well as singles. I had a cockerel I rehomed and he went to a young man and his family. He lived a happy life with the family, making friends with the family dog, and during the winter, sleeping on top a file cabinet in the kitchen. He would sit on the back of the couch while the family watched TV, and he played with the dog outside every day in spring and summer.

If you are willing to be the flock to your rooster, he shouldn't be any the worse for having lost his buddy.
