I’m looking at a bunch of coops to get ideas for the one I want to build. I came across the Rite Farm Lifetime Series XL: Link to coop

I have never thought about using the corrugated plastic. Would that actually hold up against raccoons? How’s the ventilation? Good for a flock of 4 hens?

Thanks,

That coop looks fine as an entry level coop for 4 hens. Let me get things clear. Are you considering purchasing this one, or making one like it yourself.
If you are able to build one your self, then scan this thread with many ideas posted in pictures. Building a coop yourself, will cost less in materials, than something prefab. Prefab,,,,,,, means the seller needs to sell at a profit.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't see any ventilation at all? The enclosed red part is meant to be the coop, and it's all paneled up from what I can see - no open mesh.

The enclosed part is... 75"x48" except what you actually need to know is how large the red portion is. My guess is 24" so that would give you 12.5 sq ft in coop space, so that would be 3 hens.

Alternatively (and not sure if this is possible) I suppose it could be assembled with none of the interior walls, so the whole 75x48 is available as a coop. That would help massively with the ventilation issue as well as provide a lot more space.

A metal roost... you can pretty much toss that and replace it with wood. I don't think any chicken will ever prefer a metal roost bar. At least adding a roost would be easy if you simply bolted it to the wire mesh.

My main fear (and I don't know this for sure as I am not familiar with the materials) is that this design would work like an oven and trap heat inside, as they describe it as similar to greenhouse panels.
