a while ago i posted a topic because my turkey had bumblefoot, it was starting to get better then all the sudden she got a huge lump on her foot and another scab again plus 3 of my chicken's have it now.Does anyone know where bumble foot comes from? The poles my turkeys and chickens roost on aren't high.. someone told me to soak the turkey and chicken's feet in motor oil or cacastor oil to get rid of the bumble foot.Has anyone tryed that and does it work or is there any other way to get rid of it other than picking the bumble out?

Bumblefoot is essentially an infection in the pad of the foot caused by a little as a srape or scratch that allowed bacteria to invade the tissue. Motor oil I'm sure won't do you any good here. You wouldn't pour that stuff on your hand if you had an injury, right?
There are a number of good threads on this site discussion the treatment. Here is one I just found:

From my experience, bumblefoot is pretty persistent and it might take multiple treatments.
Good luck!

fish mox is i think the stuff that you soak the foot in everyday. that way you don't need to preform surgery on the foot. I know many people are doing this treatment instead cause it is easier. I had a hen die from bumblefoot cause it goes septic. i wish i would have known about fish mox earlier.
