Congratulations!! Happy to hear it. Great news...

I have a few EE... they all seem more sensitive than others to all disturbances. One, Laci, stopped laying in the summer and didn't start again for more than four months. I think there must have been several reasons, like with yours, but she finally started again, after a very thorough worming regiment of the entire flock. Then, 2 or 3 weeks later, she stopped again.

Laci will be 2 in the Spring, and "normally" lays the biggest, most beautiful eggs in the flock, huge blue-green (pastel mint) color eggs. So big they won't fit into an 'Extra Large' carton. She has been "off again" for the last few weeks, no telling when or if she will start again.

Happy that yours started laying again. Congratulations!!

A relief I know.

This is from last Spring, at about one year old. Laci is even more beautiful now (and cleaner)! And, her eyes are completely surrounded by "muffs" (?), she can hardly see food drop in front of her! (I need to get a more recent, better picture! She's feathered out much more, especially in the head/face/beard.)

Take care..

I have not received on egg in over 4 months.. no trauma or stress just molt then shortened days.. I wormed and also watched the coop just to make sure the dogs were not wreaking havoc but all was well... Went to the coop this evening and look what I found....

this egg was laid by a white rock pullet. she will turn 1 yr old this summer and has never laid before.. This is her first egg ever!! the white egg next to it is a jumbo store bought egg, used for comparison.. can you say ouch!!

Well It sure did make me happy to see this waiting in the coop. Now if only the fbcm's would start again.. they say the longer the break the darker the eggs will be at first... well they should be black! It has been sooo long for them!!

Congrats Dez,

This gives me hope. I too, have a young EE that was hatched in April 2011. She started laying late Summer and stopped in early winter. She appears to be molting now. This dispels the myth that they will molt at one.

Her coop mates of SLW, RIR and BR of the same age, are still pumping them out.
