Hatch-a-long! ~ Anyone setting 8JAN-15JAN??

Day 21 for me. Only have two that are going to hatch because this my test batch! I am so excited. I haven seen any movement and I am getting a lil scared.

I have got everything ready for the babies! My husband said you are already getting their nursery ready and they are not here...lol.

Okay, Here are some pictures...
1) My broody hatch. My DH brought in a 6th one today. This is from a mixed barnyard of EE, BO, SLW, RIR, BR, GS(RSL) and BSL. It was a community nest commandeered one day by a tenaciously broody GS (gold star!!). I had to give the broody credits here....

2) We're up to 20 chicks hatched out of 33 eggs set and just winding down day 21. A few of the eggs were actually collected and set on 1/10, so I know they'll be late to the shindig. Here are a couple pics of what's out so far:

The light red ones are bantam frizzle cochins. The blue/silver ones are LF blue cochins. The darker red with giraffe spots are the campines. There's one Aussie mix (I think on the right, center of the shot above). The rest of the black ones are also bantam frizzle cochins. In one pen, I have a really cute light red frizzle hen that I call Razzberry and a black frizzle hen that I call Blackberry. The roo is Rusty (smooth feathered red frizzle). So we have Rusty Razzberries and Rusty Blackberries comprising most of the hatch!1

3) I had to get one zipping shot....

That's two-thirds of the eggs. Three of the remaining eggs were set 1/10. Several of the others have pip divets in them. We'll see what happens overnight.

A girl has GOT to be prepared!!! Good luck!!!

Thanks! I am so nervous! Don't know that I will be able to sleep till they hatch. We are at 21 days and 2 hours in. I am sitting on the edge. How long is this going to take?
The short answer is...some take longer than others.

Are there any signs of pipping yet? The first sign is usually a puncture hole knocked out on one side, usually the uppermost side of the egg. From that point, most of mine hatched out pretty quickly...just zipped along from that hole all the way around the shell, separating top from bottom (pointy end from round end) and out they popped in about 5 minutes. I did have couple that pipped that first little hole late on day 20 and didn't start zipping til late afternoon day 21. One had pipped early yesterday morning and tried to zip, but couldn't seem to get anywhere. I checked that one late last night and found that the shell and membrane were both super thick, decided to help get the zipping going, then he managed to do the rest. The rest had been moved to the brooder by that time, but I left him/her in the bator overnight. He/she was still hanging in there this morning, so in the brooder went number 21.

I candled the remaining eggs, disposing of 4. I had not candled all eggs before setting and those 4 were just not fully developed. I have 8 left that are developed, but no pipping and I don't see any movement when candling. I'm going to leave them in the bator for the day to see if anything happens, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm happy with 21 for a first time hatching from first time parents (all are under 9 mos old) of such a wide variety.
