Hatch-a-long! ~ Anyone setting 8JAN-15JAN??

I will be setting another tray of eggs on the 10th or 11th. I have eggs from one tray in the incubator going to the hatcher on the 10th so depending on if I have at least 3 dozen to set on Thursday on if I set Thursday or Friday. I will be setting all sexlink eggs with maybe a few buff orpingtons and if my son has his way a few lavender bantam cochin eggs.

Ooooooo... Lavender bantam Cochins..... *where did that droopy smily go...*

I got an incubator for Christmas!!! I am setting my first round of eggs on Saturday!!! I am super excited and little freaked out. I have about 14 turkey eggs going in and then the next Saturday I have about 20 chickens. I timed them so they would hatch around the same time. Wish me luck!

Good luck! Love to see pics when everyone's hatched!

First time hatcher here...just set a batch of eggs from my own pens this morning. Here's what I have in the bator:

Bantams:
Red cochin over a red frizzle and a black frizzle hen.
Black cochin over black cochin/frizzle hens. This particular flock blessed us with 10 chicks via their own broody hatch10-14 days ago (egg thieves...hatches stretch about a week!)
I figured for my first time incubating, I wanted eggs that I knew were fertile.

LF:
Gold Campine roos over gold and silver hens.
LF cochin...from either a blue or a GL roo over my 3 blue hens or 1 buff hen.
Various potential mixes from a pen with Australorps, GLW and BR and another pen with BO and SLW.
I know...strange combinations, but we're still working on rightsizing the flock to those we decided to take forward in our breeding program.

As a first-timer, I'm a bit nervous about the whole process. I'm using a Hovabator Genesis 1588 with an automatic turner...first time using it to hatch...just got it and tested it out this week.
I have an LG with turner as a backup...and tested it for a full week....also a basic Hovabator still air for the last 3 days (hatching) only when I need it.

Good luck everyone!

Sounds like a lot of us are new to hatching with bators. :) I hear the genesis bators are really good.

That is an awesome mix of breeds! And the mix chicks should be interesting! Always fun to guess the mix as they grow!

Chicken Pickin---I will definitely post pics of this hatch from Azriel/Montana. VERY PLEASED! It may take me a few days...I am behind on everything in my household cuz I have been obsessing and enjoying this process...lol!!

Welcome Mr MKK and nicolemac!!!

I can't wait for everyone to get there eggs going! And, not that I am at ALL impatient, but I can't wait for chick pics either! :D Sounds like there is going to be some great variety out there.
