Hi! A bunch of us on here are first timers. Me for one. :) Hope they do well! I have 4 of my eggs I am worried about now. 4 out of 22 isn't bad though.

Keep us posted on how things go. :)

Hi! Just set my very first eggs On Friday the 18th! 14 Silkies. Shipped eggs. PA to CA! Packed well...arrived intact. I let them sit for 19 hours big end up. Of the 14 at least 5 had funky air cells. Now they are all in the bator.... big end up and I am NOT going to turn or touch them for 7 (maybe 5) days! So far so good?

Sounds perfect. Mine rested for 18ish hours and then went into the incubator with the turner off. I think I turned it on on day 7... Candle before you turn it on. That way you can be sure that everything is ok. That being said, some probably wont reattach 100% and there is no point keeping the turner off past a certain timeframe ( I think 10 days was what some one said not to let them set past).

Those are beautiful parents! I am wanting some silkie eggs and some polish eggs and if I can find them show girls. My daughters birthday is coming up and she is my Mimi me farmer! Does anyone know whet I can get some

I hope it works! I don't plan on going past day 7 with no turning. I will def be candling on day 5,6 or 7. Depends how long I can keep my hands off them!!

As a first-time incubator, I have a question... So how do you all resist candling?

I candled on day 4 and saw 6 of 7 developing chicks (last egg was too thick to see clearly through).

I'm anxiously waiting until day 10 to peek again. I want to remove that last egg if it's not developing, so it doesn't go funky on me. Day 10 is 4 more days away!!!

ARGH!!! I so want to peek! Must - resist - temptation - to peek - MUST - resist. (background voice, 'resistance is futile'....!) ARGH!!!

So, please help me out here and tell about your candling results! I'll live vicariously through ya'll......must resist......

I resist by remembering that the more I mess with them the likelier it is I will harm one. :/

I usually can't hold out the whole time but I do check the humidity and temp multiple times in the day. Multiple-multiple. I drive my DH nuts some nights.
