Hatch-A-Long; GemmaGA's Very First Incubator Hatch!

So it's day 3, I candled some of the eggs and looks like we have some action! A few of the eggs have very dark brown shells so it's hard to tell, and one has a green shell - going to try again tomorrow (Day 4) and then the next day (Day 5) to see how things are progressing!

Feeling optimistic about my first incubator hatch!!!!:fl:jumpy
Following also. Excited for you.

I put eggs in our incubators about 12 hours ago and I have already checked the temperature/humidity 6 times cause I am so nervous. It will be our first time hatching on our own as we have only ever bought chicks before. There were a few breeds I wanted to add to our flock though so hatching felt like the most economical way to do it. We have Salmon Faverolle, Cream Crested Legbar, Silverudd Isbar, Mosaic, Silverlaced Polish, Speckled Sussex, Black Copper Maran, Ameraucana and a couple Lavender Orpington eggs set. I have a few LO eggs from the guy we got the Salmon Faverolle eggs from as we want to try to hatch a new rooster as our Buckbeak is turning out to be a bit of a dud.

Good luck with your hatch - may the odds be in everyone’s favour!!

@mccmeadows same here! I had gotten chicks from TSC but since I got the incubator for Christmas, I figured no time like the present to get and hatch some eggs for the other breeds I was interested in.

I am on day 6 I think, and def seeing some action - a few eggs are questionable or are not fertile and I will probably leave them for another day or two since some of the eggs were added a day or two after the main lot.

My Ayam Cemani eggs apparently are on their way now too! They weren't supposed to be here until the end of March so I am not sure what to do about that.....

good luck with your hatch also! Have my fingers crossed for you :)

Update: So, 12 days to go +/-...about 14 of my 20+ eggs look like they are at least fertile and progressing.

For those that read about the loss of my beloved roo and taking some refrigerated eggs and putting them in the brooder - I am excited to report that it appears at least a couple of those eggs were also fertile and and developing!

Hope I’m not hijacking this thread or anything, but quick incubating question:

I have been away for work for a few days and will get home tonight. It’ll be day 7 so I am looking forward to candling them for the first time and am hoping for good things!! When you candle, do you move around where they are in the turner or leave them in their original spot for the entire incubation period?
