Redinator's First Hatch-Along w Bonus Broody: And Everything Thereafter

OK as promised; updated pics of the 5 week olds . . . and no I don't remember who was named what  except Penny the CP.

Buff Orpingtons; initially I thought only there was only 1 male of 4, but another one is looking suspicious. I have older BO Pullets in the yard, so a second male would give me options based on temperment

BO1: The almost certain male. He wouldn't stop moving so the pictures are a bit blurry, but the red comb and wattles are still visible.

BO 2: possible male, wattles . .maybe

BO 3: Very pullet looking so far

BO 4: Another possible pullet BO 4.png

Black Tailed Red Marans; I think I have 1 male and 1 female

BTR 1: This one wouldn't pick her head up out of the feeder, but looks like a pullet so far

BTR 2: This one's large comb makes me think it's male . . but IDK BTR 2 (1).png BTR 2 (2).png

Lavender Ameraucanas: I'm thinking 2 males and 1 pullet, but I hope not. The 3rd one gave me a run for my money getting a good picture of it.

LA 1: This one's comb appears a bit red but nothing alarming
LA 1 (1).png LA 1 (4).png

LA 2: This one looks like a pullet so far
LA 2 (1).png LA 2 (4).png

LA 3: Another possible male . . .? The first picture the comb looks pretty red, but the rest really don't, yet.
LA 3 (1).png LA 3 (5).png LA 3 (6).png LA 3 (7).png LA 3 (8).png

Crele Penedesenca: Last, but not least . . .

Penny; known pullet . . .thankfully the two CPs that just hatched are male.

And in case anyone needs a belly laugh at my expense; this is what it took to get those pictures :
Fair warning there is a bit of cussing because I tripped on a feeder and nearly stepped on a chick. I also swear I'm not hurting the 3rd LA.

If it helps, this is my chocolate orp at 6 weeks.

This is now, Coffee Bean is definitely a she. I'm expecting a first egg any day now.

That does make me feel better. I'm only hoping for 1 male of each, if not I'll have to get more eggs and try again

The Lav Ams are really confusing since, I think, the males don't get wattles because of the muffs.

Well I found some leg bands in the bottom of the brooder, so all bets are off on which of the black chicks is which.

I'll be moving the 2 week old bantams Chaos, Drama and Havoc outside today and possibly some 1 week old standards. Several of them hang out on top of the brooder plate so they should be able to get in the chickhut the bantams couldn't get into at a week old. We'll see.

I found a dead BTR chick (5.5 weeks old) in the chick run. No signs of illness, no injures, just dead 😢 . To make matters worse it was the one that looked like a female. 😭 Now I have 1 BTR male.

I also heard back from the seller about the 2 recently hatched CP chicks and they're both female, which means I have 3 female CPs and no males. :th
