HATCH ALERT !!!!!! Alice's Birthday Party - WE GOT BABIES !!

Well everyone got some sleep around here last night. Momma and the babies are doing great !! And Mikey has his share of cooking to do so for now this is it... Here's Alice and black (with little yellow) one. Real shiny black.

All the sweet potato rolls got baked off (4 bathces), made the cole slaw, the pork butt is going in the oven now (7 am) and then I make the banana cream pie and prep the corn.

Friday I made my wife 2 liters of limoncello. You peel the zest off of about 20 lemons (the yellow part ONLY) and put it in a jar with some good vodka, let it set 5 days, stirring each day - then you add a "simple syrup (sugar and water) and let it rest another day, then strain and serve... One of my wife's favorite summer libations.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos - they are so precious. They stick their heads out, then pop back under Mom like they are playing hide and seek.

Got the banana cream pie baked and decorated,

got a batch of sticky buns I had in the freezer out (you can see I had to try one about 04:00 this morning), and everything else is bubbling along. This is the sticky buns and our stash of sweet potato rolls... I'll freeze off whatever we don't use today.

Thank You all very much for the compliments on our photos, the food and Alice and her babies. I was so busy the day of the "birthday party" being a good host to my in-laws that I never really updated this thread. The food turned out VERY good... I sent the in-laws home with sticky buns, containers of pulled pork and my homemade barbeque sauce, sweet potato rolls and lots of other goodies...

As for Alice and the babies. Well they are spoiled to death like any of the others we have. They get long stretches of free ranging: we have had to be VERY very careful as it seems these little guys are tempting to predators we normally don't worry about (a couple stray cats we feed, blue jays and crows). Here's a shot of them (taken at 8 days) of them free ranging. My wife helps Alice find worms and other bugs for the babies...
