Hatch-Along - Eggs set in November, due December, anyone?

Update we have 10 so far, 3 more have pipped, 4 are rocking and rolling and chirping, and 3 are just hanging out.

Hope laid her first egg (and a half one lol) yesterday!!!



had its own little yolk too! It was a tiiiny egg!!!

looked like a balloon.

Her comb was all squishy and pale after.

This was how I found it yesterday. One full egg and a yolk. She expelled the egg white for that yolk later on, the shell this morning. Now she is all better (for now at least. She was in shock all night. Not making any sounds.)

Maybe the next egg will have an actual shell??? :3
She is not on layer feed yet, so I have been giving her a bit of yogurt every now and then (home- made Greek yogurt)

Congrats on Hopes first egg, get her on layer. My final count is 17 hatched, 3 never pipped, tho veins and movement was seen, but they were breach in the egg, I opened one and the membrane was shrink wrapped around the chick and it was like riga mortise had set in, tho it did start to try to breathe, after I opened the egg but it was too weak and died. So I am going to just throw away the other 2 eggs. No chirping was ever heard from these 3 eggs, so I guess unless they pip they don't start to absorb the yolk and finish the process.

Awesome hatch, Katsdar! I think Hope is/was egg bound though. :/

wow to think that at Christmas time you were just hatching Hope my girls should be laying they are about a week behind in age to your Hope, I still can't tell which ones are roos tho, they all look like hens to me, and now I have 17 more and 2 turkeys, we are building a bigger house for them. Oh and my Bannie hen we are on the look out for her chicks, no idea on how many she has laid, 5 rolled off the roof and cracked but she is still up there so she has to have something wonder how I'm going to get her babies down.

Hope laid me another egg, but a good one this time! (it has a shell!!) I switched her over to laying feed on Monday, and she laid this perfect egg today!:




Compared to a grocery store egg, it is puny. It has a yolk and tiny air cell at the end, and it kind of tan too!


She got to sunbathe for an hour as a reward! She is smiling in this picture!

I also bought two new babies on Monday:


A barred and white rock. I didn't want to hatch any more, so I just bought a couple. The yellow one is named Maddy, but the barred one has yet to be named.
