Hatch-Along - Eggs set in November, due December, anyone?

The last egg in my incubator

I opened it up because it hadn't even pipped till the end of day 22. The chick is in there, alive... but I'll wait a couple more hours for him to proceed. The other 5 eggs were under the broody which did not hatch, I candled them but 3 look infertile, the other 2 are early deaths maybe, I have put them in the incubator too, lets see what happens.

Candyman so maybe you could teach your broody a few things

It's day 20 for me today. It's going to be a loooongggg day. Your chickens are very pretty, Candyman, especially your rooster. What breed is he??

3D it an aseel. They are used for cock fighting, but I keep him as a pet

(Sub category is Sindhi Aseel cross with Mianwali Aseel)

The Asil or Aseel is a breed of chicken originating from South Punjab/ Sindh area of Pakistan and India. Similar fowl are found throughout Southeast Asia and have names like Shamo, Taiwan, etc.

Sindhi Aseel
It is one of the tallest and biggest breed of Asils. Main colours are red and blue. They are mostly fought in the Sindh area of Pakistan. These aseels have good endurance and usually their fights last longer than Mianwali Aseels.
Mianwali Aseel
This breed is mainly found in Mianwali district of Pakistan. However since its arrival, this breed has risen to popularity in Pakistan, currently the primary game breed used in the pits also preferred by gamblers. It is smaller compared to Sindhi aseels weighing between 1.5 to 3.5 kg depending on the preference of breeders. It is much faster and a better head hitter usually comes in small to medium height. A good Mianwali aseel should kill its opponent within a few minutes. They have been known to kill bigger roosters because of their speed and accuracy. They come in various colors such as Java(duckwing), Lakha (reddish), black and various others depending on the combination used in breeding. Very hard and a brave fighter with attitude to inspire, excellent in naked heels and metal spurs. There are many sub breeds of this breed owing to the combination used in breeding. A good tested Mianwali rooster would usually have offspring of a similar quality. Typical description would be small curved beak, strong joints, pearl/white/yellow eye color, short crow, small comb and do not have heavy body structure. May look smaller than other breeds but is excellent spurer.

And another good news... The last one has hatched!!!

He left the hole I made for rescue and found its own path

Now my hatch rate has gone upto 100%

32 Total set, 10 infertile, 1 blood ring = 21 which hatched!!!

Candyman

How wonderful, I'd mark that chick, he must be stubborn to find his own way,and not take the easy path.

Question: What temp and RH did you use before and after lock down?

They have been adopted!!! Incubator's 20 + hen's 6 are learning to eat from their foster mother.

Aww how cute! She's got a big responsibility.. 27 chicks to take on!

I beieve my last ten chicks died in the shell. I wasn't seeing anything or hearing anything so I candled a few and there is no movement in any of them.... I'm feeling really sad right now as I'm not sure what I did wrong

I'm going to leave them in there another day but I don't have a lot of hope right now
You might try float testing to see whats going on.. candling can be tough. Hope they are just being stubburn.

I hope my hatch turns out like yours, Candyman! It's day 20 for me. I wonder when I will be able to hear them peeping or see them wiggling... I really hope they hatch! I will give news of when they make progress towards hatching. I took a day off school to make sure that if they hatched early, I could help them. Am I obsessed? Yes. Yes I am.

By the way, the environment where I live has little to no humidity, and I can't seem to get the humidity above 30 or 40 in my incubator... I sprayed some water on the walls inside, but it's not improving any. Maybe the hygrometer is broken... It isn't steaming on the windows though. What do I do?? What will happen if I can't raise it enough?? Will they be stuck to the shells? Will it hurt them a lot??

<-- me. lol

Use a humidifier in the same room as your incubator.. should help raise the humidity. You could also try calibrating your hygrometer.. I'm trying this out myself at the moment. http://cigars.about.com/od/humidors/qt/hygrometers.htm

you may have to help them out of the shells, since the membranes can dry up on them and keep them from getting out of the shell. Here is a thought can you saturate some sponges and put them in the bottom?
