Ok..we have caught the hatching bug.
Scott and I decided to hatch another batch because he really wants his BLRW. So, knowing he was going to do a dozen eggs, I thought....I'll get some since there will be space in the incubator. I wanted Speckled Sussex, but not just any SS, I wanted super nice ones. Had issues finding those..or getting an answer from anyone. While doing all that searching I found some Olive Egger eggs. They were a super good deal and sound like "surprise eggs" to me. They will likely be blue cuckoo..some with beard and muffs..maybe some leg feathering. Can I just say.....I love surprises =) So that's one dozen. Then I finally found someone who has Speckled Sussex..beautiful ones! I notice she also has Silkies...........I don't have a Silkie. In the beginning Silkies didn't appeal to me, but the idea has been growing on me the more I see and hear people talk about them. Somewhere deep down, I've been thinking that maybe just ONE Silkie would be fun. I wrote and asked for the Speckled Sussex eggs and also asked if she had ONE Silkie egg she would be willing to sell me. I said I didn't want white. She wrote me back instantly. Yes on the Speckled Sussex. She has two dozen, I acted like a grown up and only ordered one. She also has Three Silkie eggs in the colors red/buff/or partridge. Well....I like all those colors. It made sense to me that I should order all three..one for each color. (yes I know it's not likely I'll get one of each). To add even more surprise factor here..she tells me she Has a Frizzle rooster in that pen too..so I might get a SIZZLE. Scott is on ebay looking for another incubator as I type this. He is worried that he wont have room for his 18+ BLRW eggs he ordered.
I guess I'm going to be looking for a new Hatch Along to join.
