How long was the temp down?

About 8 hours (or less) Since I posted that the temps dropped down to 97 a couple times. I would only see it before I would go to work and didn't dare adjust the thermometer for fear of it climbing too high. Now I'm home for the week end, tomorrow being hatch day, I did turn the know ever so slightly. Going to try to get it up a little.

my first one hatched about an hour ago-a basque hen! I have 4 external pips working atm! How long should I keep the chicks in the bator before moving over to brooder? This one is sorta dry/little moist on top still...?

Oh boy!!! Oh boy!!!! We have cheeping coming out from under Gracie!!!

We were just out to give the birds their evening treats and attention time and when swapping out Gracies food dish I stayed and listened really close and heard peeping under her!!!! Just to be sure I had Radioman take a turn and he heard it too!!!!

Each time we heard it Gracie would purr back! Just a short little trill of a noise... so cute!!!

I can't begin to say how hard it is to resist the temptation to try to lift her and check underneath! This sitting on our hands to let her do her thing sucks!

We want to see fluffy butts!
At least we know one of her eggs made it through the cold! Here's hoping that even more than one did!

I have 9 hatched.

I went ahead and moved 8 of them to the brooder. One is still in the incubator drying.

I have another one that mostly zipped, then got stuck. I try not to help usually, but I could tell this one was having trouble. It sort of pipped at the very top of the egg, and poked big hole, then starting zipping, but stopped several hours ago. So I just pulled it out in a warm moist paper towel, and examined it. The membrane was starting to dry and stick to the chick.I moistened the dry part, and pulled away a little of the shell to maybe help the little guy break free, then put it back in the bator with the towel. Not sure if the chick will make it out or not.

Other than that I have 4 more pips and I think 3 eggs that haven't done anything. Honestly, I'm losing count, and it's hard to see in the bator through the chicks and broken shells, and the remaining eggs have been kicked all over the freaking place. It's been a wild day in the Brinsea.

I don't know how you resist! It would drive me crazy not knowing what's going on in there.

So today is day 19 and our first full day of lockdown. we had gone into lockdown early becasue we thought we heard a peep and thought it was an internal pip but we haven't had anything else happen yet
