Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

I'm using a LG still air too. I have three sponges in there, one in a bowl of hot water. The other two were steaming and hot when I put them in. My humidity was at 40% and now t is only at 43%! So frustrating! The relative humidity inside the house is 50%. I'm thinking it should be going up! Maybe I will try the microwaved damp cloth next. How long do you put in the microwave for?
Just realized my hygrometer isn't working. I grabbed the outdoor sensor and put it in the bator. It gave me a reading of 85%! Now to bring it way back down!

Holy crap! That's a problem! Argh!!! At least you have a backup! Phew!
Ok, I have all wells filled, one sponge, & a dishcloth. I can get access to all with a straw & syringe, if necessary.
My hubby got the idea to nuke cloth. Don't know how long, I imagine try nuking every 20 seconds till its steamy, but not too hot to handle! I fold it in half & make sure it's lined up under an air vent.

Any luck getting it to stabilize? Hope everything's ok!

Right now I have one sponge in water, one wet sponge and a dish cloth in the incubator. The humidity has been holding for the last half hour at around 64-65%. So fingers crossed, it has almost stabilized! The sensor I put in there is much more high-tech and was a lot more expensive. It is the one we use to measure the humidity/temperature/wind speed outside. It seems to be working fairly well.

Ive had one cheeping egg since this morn but still no pips. Still lots of wbbling eggs. Im hoping one hatches tonight before the kids go to bed, or I wouldnt mind if they waited til tomorrow morn so we can watch the pippin and zippin all day.

Oh those chick picks!!!! So cute!

Our's are pretty quiet today. There were four moving quite a bit yesterday and I thought for sure one or two would have pipped by now. But nothing, hmm. I have yet to hear any cheeping.

Awesome Outrun! My fingers are crossed for you! I wish for you healthy chicks!

I'm getting new incubator in April. Hoping it takes some of the edge off of the frustration!
Thank you for the well-wishes! If anything I will keep adding warm rags to boost the humidity. I know what you mean now about the LG. It takes a lot of TLC to get it to work properly. I'm a stay at home mom so I can watch the dang thing all day if necessary. I don't think it would be possible to use one of these if I was working full time. It's tricky little machine. This is my first time incubating and I am very glad I decided to practice on my own eggs before buying any.

Couldn't agree with you more, Outrun! I retired early, so I'm in the same boat as you! I don't REALLY need all eggs to hatch but I'm enjoying the experience, nonetheless!

My hubby & teen son are starting to feel a bit neglected though! I sense an intervention. They'll have to pry this iPad out of my dead hands, LOL!
