Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

I guess you can count me in too! I just set my first batch of eggs ever and have a great deal to learn, but here's hoping that I get some chicks and not just a bunch of smelly eggs

. I pulled all of the eggs I'm trying to hatch from my Easter Eggers. My only question is on the candling - some of my eggs are darker colored and I'm worried about being able to see through the shell to check on their development (Colors range from an olive green color to a light turquoise).

I'm in! I got my little eggies this morning, and put them in the incubator this evening before I went to work! I forgot to take a picture. I'm using a Brinsea 20 Advance, and I'm hoping some of you could post your incubator pics? I got all mine in, but I had a really hard time with the wires to make sure they were standing the right way and not rolling around (the eggs were all different sizes).

Im going to candle at day 7, 14, and 18(right before they go into lockdown). Everyone candles different some do it every day some do it once or twice. Its hard not to look because it is so amazing to see life forming and all the different stages of developement.

I'm in! I'll be setting my new Hovabator for the first time hopefully tomorrow, I'm waiting for a couple more from my Ameraucanas and my Welsumer and my FBCM. And one of my RIR who lay's the most gorgeous eggs... Huge mid brown with dark sploches. I didn't get any of course from the five of them today, so hopefully tomorrow will yield better. I have a huge mix, FBCM and EE Roos over FBCM, Ameraucana, RIR, Buff Orp, Australorp, Silver and BLR Wyan, Silver Sussex, Black Sex Links, Barred Rocks, Turken, Welsumer, and EE. Who knows what will come out! I'll post an egg pic before I start tomorrow. I'm hoping for an olive egger out of the mix!

wow what a mix, how cool! Def post pics! We just set our's, am I going to spaz about temp and rh 24/7 for the next 21 days?!?

well, now I'm in a pickle.... I started loading up the tiny little Brinsea mini....I was sent 15 eggs so I had to choose which 10 I was going to load up, so I made that painful set of decisions and now I find that the eggs are so large that I can only put 9 in if I want to lower the dome all the way down. I knew I should have gotten the Brinsea 20....sheeesh.

Where are you located in Georgia? A friend of mine has a large incubator and will be putting 16 in on Monday. Maybe we could help? I'm in East Alabama.

Hiya Cosmos. I'm almost in SC. I'm closest to Augusta I guess as far as real cities are concerned. Thanks for the offer, I'm considering alternatives.
