Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

I want my egg basket to look like the eggs in your bator! How lucky that you have access to those eggs nearby.
My goal for a while now has been to have a broad range of egg colors, which is why this hatch is Maran focused.

I can get you some once the weather warms enough to ship. They are actually VERY reasonably priced & she has some beautiful birds.

I FINALLY received my eggs today. I came home and the mailman placed my eggs on the cement floor in my garage

. I hope my eggs didn't freeze. I plan on candling them later tonight, I also my add a few eggs that will be a barnyard mix just so i can get some chicks, I plan on not turning for 4 days

Ahhh thats not good! Can you tell if they were frozen when you candle them later?

We are using this one too! We got our temps to steady at 100. The problem we are having is the humidity is fluctuating from 33% to 38% I hope this isn't going to cause problems...

I attempted a diy model, but chickened out and bought this one at tractor supply (I called 3 tractor supply's plus three other 'feed and seed' shopes before I found one in stock at ts across town). I am hatching black copper marans. I have not had problems stabilizing temp, but big flux in humidity. It has mostly been between 30-50, so thanks to those who already responded about that, feel much better. Also wondering about Day 1 vs Day 0. Is the day you set Day 1 or is Day 1 24 hours later and set day Day 0? Does that even make sense??

Exactly. The day you set is day zero, 24hrs later is day 1.

I would say day "0" is the 12 to 24 hours your "suppose" to allow eggs to sit and warm up to room temperature... Day "1" is the time you set and put in the incubator! Thats what we are going with!

If you set today (1/7) hatch day is the 28th (January) for chicks, the 4th (February) for ducks, geese, peafowl & turkeys, the 11th (February) for Muscovies, the 23rd (January) for button quail & the 25th (January) for coturnix quail. Those of you who set the 4th-6th just subtract accordingly.
