Update - I now have 6 chicks wreaking havoc in the incubator. I've got a new brooder set up that needs a thermometer before I'll trust it with the new babies, but also have a few more eggs that are pipped in there so I'm leary about trying pull the dry chicks out and my first casualty

I've been using a bastor to add water to the washcloth I put in the other day to up the humidity, but don't want to 'shrink wrap' anyone either, especially with the other 12 eggs that aren't due to hatch until next weekend......I don't think I'll do that to myself again, live and learn -no more staggered hatches for the rookie.
If an egg pipped over 24 hours ago and you can see the beak & the chick is still breathing - how much longer do you leave it alone before assisting/checking to make sure it isn't shrink wrapped?
