Hatch-Along - Setting eggs week of Feb 4th..anyone else?

I candled my sebastopol goose egg and it's very active.

Reading all of these posts about lockdown and chicks is making me jealous, hahaha. My egg goes into lockdown on Thursday. I'm super nervous but I'm also super excited!

I'm trying to figure out if I should wait until tomorrow morning to make any adjustments to temp or run up there really quick to bump it up before they start Confession...
hmm.. That's a tough one. Like I said, 97 degrees probably won't harm them, but it's always better to be safe then sorry. You don't want to accidentally raise it too much though.... If you raised it tonight, would you be able to stay a while to monitor it?

Woot! Congrats & good luck on the goose egg. I've got some goose eggs coming this spring - it'll be the first time I've tried hatching water fowl...

This is also my first time hatching waterfowl. I probably shouldn't have started out with such a expensive and important egg, huh? haha

Good luck with your future hatch! I love misting and cooling the egg. It makes me feel closer to it, but then again, I'll be pretty sad if it doesn't make it.

no... That's why I didn't raise it. This incubator has a problem with rising temps overnight for some reason.

I'm a teacher at a Catholic school, and the church is using our building for a retreat this weekend. I didn't know that I was not going to be allowed in the building AT ALL until two days ago, at which point I ran to the administrator and told her my issue... Luckily, the parent of one of my students is running the whole retreat, and she set up my room to only be used for Confession, but that's happening tonight in about an hr from now, so I can't stay. It might already be too late for me to go up there anyway. I can't go in my room until I've given them time to finish Confession. She thought it would take until around 10 or so... but I can't go up till 11 tonight just to be safe. (Can't walk in during the middle of someone's confession after all.. lol) ... SO... it should be fine until morning?

Yes, it should be fine until morning. I once had an 18 day old embryo survive 3 days and nights at room temperature on the kitchen table. It's a long story of how the egg got there, and it didn't develop during those 3 days, but the point is that the embryo survived.

Wow. That's actually a story I'd love to hear. :) I'm so happy that it survived!

Wouldn't it be funny if some one was confessing and your chicks started to hatch and were chirping really loud!

I warned them about that. They told the priest who will be in my room that there could be some cheeping... he loved it. :)

I'm anxious to get up there and see if there are any pips tomorrow. It would be a tad early, but I had one on day 19 last year, so it's not totally out of the question...
We had a HUGE chirping peep during class last year on day 18. We were in the middle of a test, so it was super quiet, then "TWEEEEEEEEP"... lol.. it was awesome. Half the class thought it was one of my boys who sat over by the incubator, but I went running over there and talked to the eggs and sure enough "TWEEEP" again... :)
