The answer to your question is that I did not candle before lockdown because I was too scared to find some dead, and I was worried about how it would affect them. Today when I got home, 2 out of the remaining 5 pipped. I am so excited and I can't wait to see what happens. How long until they will actually bust out?

What kind of chicks did you get from McMurray?Something got all the eggs from under the broody and left no evidence.She is closed up at night but open during the day. I don't think she ate them herself but I suppose its possible. I won't put anymore under her. I'll console myself with the chicks that arrived Mon. from McMurray and wait for the crele polish and 2 barnvelder eggs set to hatch May 4.
I got 5 salmon faverolles, 4 silver pencilled rocks, and (ended up with) 4 Silver grey dorkings. I think there is a lakenvelder thrown in. The faverolles are extremely fluffy and healthy. I'm looking forward to seeing how they all develop.
That is nerve wracking! Maybe look at the Hatching 101 article. Does it say somewhere in there that it can talk 8-12 hours for them to rest? Hopefully someone will pipe in with a suggestion.I now have 5 pips, but the first pip happened around 1pm today and there has been nothing since.
