Hatch along!!!! setting january 11-15!!!

If your lifting her up to look at the eggs maybe pick one up and listen to it. sometimes when I'm worried that the eggs are done hatching I listen to the ones left making sure I don't turn them too much. usually if there's a live chick i can hear either peeping or some tapping noise as the chick is trying to pip. You need to be quick because every time you lift the hen your releasing heat and humidity. Good luck!
So I went home this afternoon for a quick peek.

Nice and warm 52 degrees outside today! I gently lifted my hen a bit and saw ONE MORE little chick. Don't know what, but it's a dark.

Then I decided to listen to one of the eggs closest to me, so I picked it up gently and held it to my ear. As I held it, I felt the egg give just a little, and realized there is a decent size hole on the underside with another dark colored chick showing through!

Hope I didn't mess anything up!! I quickly put it back under mama, and told her what a good job she is doing. She chuffed a little and made sure everyone was tucked underneath.

I decided I had better stay away for awhile longer so she can do her job undisturbed.

This is a pretty challenging experience for a control freak like me haha

My third just hatched out a minute ago, and my third looks like it's zipping, breech! Little stinker. I think broodies are the way to go.

Ohh you are right- light brown would not be a Welsummer. I was just repeating what I was told from my egg source. Tonight when I went to lock the run, I noticed one of my chickens was missing. After looking in the usual places, I found my Silver laced Wyandotte in the nest box.

Hmmm. We'll see where she is tomorrow, but if she is broody, I may just get some chocolate eggs to hatch! I would so love to have chocolate egg layers. I am thinking Marans? Anyone with more experience have an opinion?
I know where to get some Marans eggs at a great Price If you want some LOL
Im Getting the Brinesea octo 20
wish my girks would go broody especially molly she is 12 lbs HUGE would do about 12 eggs under her

tomorrow is hatch day for me..... Hoping to get at least 3-4! Had a little egg catastrophe.... Our setup is above and my chicken is in that little nesting box we made for her and literally has not got up once the whole time. There was a big pile of poo right under her butt and the food was right in front of here so there was no need to get up. But, on day 16, she got off the eggs and went out into the bigger area. There was half an egg on the ground that had blackish fluid in it. The chicken was going ballistic because there was an egg stuck to her legs. I went out there and after a while the egg finally fell off her legs. I put her back on the eggs. Then I was looking for the one that had stuck to her legs, but it had disappeared into the shavings. I looked for an hour but never found it:( now she is sitting on six well see how many hatch tomorrow
