I candled all the eggs I set on the 11th last night. of the orpington eggs I'm down to 2 with good development and 1 that I'm not sure on so I left it in. and all the black copper marans eggs are too dark for me to see in so they all stayed. I also got the legbar eggs in the mail and placed them under my broodies last might so will try to candle them in 5 to 7 days. this is my first attempt at broody hatching and I'm a little nervous ( guess I like to control the process and well you just don't with broodies :) )

This morning the humidity in the incubator was at 21%. (It's super dry here right now) So when I opened it up to add water I set a flashlight to the top of each of the eggs I set on the evening of the 12th. (this morning is day 5.5) Didn't take them out of the turner at all. (I told myself I'd only spot-candle if I needed to open the incubator for a specific reason.)

All the WLx eggs are developing!

I can't see anything yet it the RIWx or the BCMx.

3 of the 5 Lemon Cuckoo Orps have visible veining and 1 of the Rhodebars!

The Orps had detached/wonky aircells, and I didn't put them in the turner until yesterday. (I moved them because I needed the 6 non-turning spots for the 2nd batch of shipped eggs.)

I just set a dozen yesterday afternoon and snuck another warm one in this morning ;) can I join? I have a barnyard mix, but I know most of the breeds even though they are crosses. I have 3 black Cochin bantam (mom) with a Dark Brahma Ameraucana cross daddy, the rest are all EE with the same daddy. Most are half sisters with the daddy. (Scandalous!) but 4 are EE moms with an ISA brown x brown leghorn cross daddy who was my very first chicken! I am so stinking excited!!!!!

So bummed. I'm pretty sure two of my embryos have quit. I have 3 that are kind of dark so I can't tell what's what, 2 that look infertile, and 4 that have wiggling little chickies inside bless'em. It's only day 7.5 so the four making it to hatch seems like it's going to take a miracle. This is so STRESSFUL! I've been talking to the little guys through the viewing window. I am now officially a crazy chicken lady!

I have a few little quail eggs in my new chic bator (Disclaimer , I dont recomend this to anyone that wants a relibale incubator Im doing this as an expement)

I dropped one on day one so Im down to four big and the itty bitty egg. I set them the 12th Im waiting or trying to wait till saterday to candle.

To the person that thought some eggs might of quit why do you think so . dont give up on them tell your shure wich is easery around day 10-12

Hi Gabrielle, Yeah the eggs in question are getting those grease on a paper bag type spots on them and look like they might start weeping. They also were looking like the other guys two days ago and now, no vessels, no movement. I'm gonna wait a day or so, but I really am worried about infecting the healthy eggs. If it was just questionable development I'd take it to hatch day and beyond. I'm really thinking I've got rotting eggs though.

Hope the other little guys are made of tougher stuff!

I set 18 Iowa Blue eggs in my home made 'bator last Saturday the 12th. I'll candle them tomorrow. The eggs were shipped from Iowa so I hope most of them will be okay. They were superbly packed and when I candled them, I only saw three that may be suspect. Seemed that USPS actually saw the notice on the outside of the box and handled them with great care. I'm anxious to see how this all turns out, as this is my first hatch.
