Hatch date Jan 9th! documenting my own eggs *PICTURES!!!!!! NOW*pg 8

as promised pictures bigtime today is oficially day 21 at 4pm:)

right now I have 7 hatched out
3 olive eggers
3 bantam cochins ( 1 should be frizzled)
1 EE
7 pipping and more rolling around
temp 101.1
humidity 58%

I have opened the bator ONCE to retrieve the chicks that hatched out yesterday-My DD and I did it together at one time at 6 am today for about 20 seconds thats it-I will not open it again until tonight to retrieve more-
In that shoort time frame of removel humidity went down to 27%!!! It took 20 minutes to go back up and I can tell you right now that is one of the mistakes I made in past-opening the bator too much-I leave them alone and just watch-that is key-most of the time they dont need your help -leave them alone
Example: I had 1 pipping yesterday around 7pm-it just hatched out 10 minutes ago and he is big-the one in the picture below-they just take time be patient
everyone--ok here goes-

They're so big and beautiful! I can't wait to get more eggs to incubate!
I have six eggs left in the bator after the big cull, and they're due next weekend. One of them is very, very special to me because it was laid by my polish/ee blue splash hen, Robbie. I lost her on Christmas day, and all I had of her eggs had been collected and were in my fridge. I of course yanked them all out (5), and of the five, two went on to develop and one of them quit. The other is live and kicking! If I get two out of this bunch, I'll be happy. I can't have any lonely chicks!

Congrats on the fuzzbutts!

I have to say I have learned so much on BYC since my last hatches last year and because of that all my birds are big and healthy-not that they werent before but I know now how much to feed them and what not to feed them how to watch for health issues and such. It's made all of this so much easier and stress free-so now with these new hatches they are bigger and stronger-IMO I love BYC thank you everyone!!!!

My buckeys are due today, I had 5 hatch lastnight and wokeup to 15 this morning. One more has piped and 8 more to go. Even had one hatch that was marked as very questionable. Still have two of those in the hatcher. Pic,s later today.

The big rosey egg started pipping now too-so that makes it 9 out 8 pipping!!! woo-hooo pictures when things slow down-I will be taking chicks and broken eggs shells out in about 2 hours-it's getting messy and the chicks are having a hard time trying to walk around...

Congrats!!! They are so cute, the first picture, was that one from an olive egg? She looks just like mine!!

You mentioned before that when you opened to incubator you lost humidity and it took 20 min. to return. To stabilize my humidity I added a wet microwaved sponge as soon as I opened the incubator. It put the heat and humidity right back.

MORE PICTURES!!!
