Hatch date of April 17th! Anybody with me?

So I just candled and I saw movement in 5 eggs out of 12, that's pretty good for a homemade incubator I think. Hopefully everything will go smoothly until Saturday or so.

Mine go into LD in the morning! Candled tonigt and the eggs look pretty full! Saw movement in most of them, and it looked like the beak was in the aircell in 2 of them!

I put my duck eggs on lockdown this morning! All 14 eggs had live babies last night when I candled! I hope everything goes well, my hatching luck hasn't been that great this season.

Went on lockdown this morning. Had a little issue with humidity for the first 2 hours.....finally got humidity up and holding steady at 61%. Was hoping to get to 65% or 70% but it wasn't happening. So I HOPE that level humidity will be OK. I HOPE I don't wake up to a drop. I would be devastated to get this far and have something happen like that.

I woke up about 3 times last night cause I am so anxious at this point. I know I will get up at some point in the middle of the night tonight and have to go see if things are still going the way they should. My face has been pretty much glued to the glass of the incubator all day anyway!! LOL.....I guess now it's just wait and see, and keep fingers crossed til I see the first sign of hatching...

GOOD LUCK to all of you expecting hatches in the next day or two!!!! Can't wait to hear everyone's had success!!!

Mom2Munchkins....I think I am in the same condition as you as far as being more excited than the kids over this. I Hope you get that pip you're looking for overnight !!!

TGarcia~~I don't know what incubator you are using but in my Hovabator I have 3 holes on the top 2 with red plugs and 1 that is right over the top of the fan. I have been sitting a glass over the top of that hole ( the one without the plug ) for a few minutes to help increase the humidity. I was having the same trouble getting the humidity to stabalize. I also noticed that air was escaping around the windows so I taped those with clear packing tape. ( this is on my list of things to fix after the hatch is complete.) I know we don't want air tight but I was losing moisture like crazy and I am able to maintain 70%. I don't want to add too much water at this point since the moisture will increase when the chicks start hatching. I hope some of this helps.

As far as my hatch, I HAVE PIPS !!! First one was at 1:30 this morning and now at 7:00 ~ 6 1/2 hours later I have 5 pips. I hear peeping but no wiggles or wobbles yet. This is so much fun. My youngest daughter wanted me to come get her from school today when they started hatching. lol I told her that was not going to happen.

Good luck to all who has chicks hatching.

Thanks for the advice Akbufflady....I have a home-made incubator that was made from one of the plans I got from this site. I covered 1 of the vent holes up and that worked like a charm. I still have ventilation, so I'm gonna leave that one closed up for now. So far I have a steady 65%....so I feel a little better about that number.

I got up twice again last night to go check on things, and still nothing is happening as of this morning.

It's only day 19, so I'm not gonna get discouraged yet....still to early in the game for that. As many times as I go back and forth looking to see if there is any progress....I can definetly say I'm getting my exercise.

Hope everyone has good luck today with their hatches!! I'm patiently waiting for my chicks to start the show.
