But I think they are adorable! I'm hoping to be able to buy some of Katy's BLRW for my next hatch, but that depends on if she is able to do another auction.

I will post pictures for sure. Hatch date is 15th. Lockdown is tomorrow the 12th
I watched a discovery clip on youtube of the chicks that are hatched in the hatcheries and wow, I'd say they had better be tough. The egg is actually punctured to inject a vaccine, now would that not cause air to enter and possibly cause problems for a chick that is not ready to hatch? I'm thinking it would since this is done on day 18.

Question to anyone. Are you aware of anyone taking the water tray out of the bator and putting in marbles or glass as for aquariums as a heat sink and to maybe allow for better evaporation since the glass would hold more heat??? I'm thinking that now with water full in the tray, I'll have trouble reaching the 70% humidity for lock-down. With a sponge in the tray I can maintain 60% and that is with a full water tray.

Illia, I want some of those maran eggs, just such a wonderful color brown. Looks like chocolate eggs.

Happy hatching, I will try to keep my nerves in check. Just the first hatch and well you know how it is....

Ok now I have figured out how to post pics and Im excited!

Well, the turner is out and we are in lockdown. Humidity is at 72 for now, had it up to 70 then it dropped to 68, I added more water so now maybe it will stabalize.

All 42 eggs are on their sides, now more waiting. I saw an egg wobble a few nights ago, but I have not noticed any more wobbles since.

Oh, the waiting. I have the camera ready and hubby has a few days off so I will have plenty of time to watch. lol

i'm due saturday too. i have three of the 6 eggs left. i hope they hatch. i tosssed a dominique egg the other day.

Wow, humidity at 72%? I thought it was suppose to be 50% while incubating then 60% at lockdown. I am using a Genesis Huvabotor and that is what they called for.

I have silkies due to hatch on Thursday, silkies, and maybe 2 Blue Splash Marans on Saturday and maybe 3 Blue Splash Marans, 2 EE, and 2 silkies due to hatch on Sunday the 18th. The white silkies could possibly be mixed with Black Cochin, that ought to be interesting.

I had 24 blue Splash Maran eggs sent from Gabbard Farms, she sent me 2 dozen to replace the 1 dozen that were duds the first time. I even went and bought another genesis (#3) once I found out I was getting 24 eggs. Only 5 are showing some type of development !!

Wish all of you luck.

I guess it just depends on what you want to believe and what you read. There seems to be way too many schools of thought on the humidity levels. I can say that with the humidity levels that I have been keeping I have live chicks in each of the 42 eggs. Now, if they would just hatch. lol So, the humidity has finally stabalized at 70 and I have been able to maintain that now for 4 hours. I'm still checking it every few minutes or when ever I walk past I can't keep from checking on it. Shining the flash light in and looking for any wobbles.

Good luck with your hatch

My silkie eggs are due to hatch on the 17th as well. So far all seems to be going good for my first time attempt. All 9 eggs have movement, so I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for all of them to make it. Got my brooder all ready too, so all I need now are the chicks.

Hope everyone else with babies due has good luck too!!!
