Hatch day fears

there is a thread on the forum that was started by IrishGirl..she has an incubator and a lockdown brooder..her lockdown house is a styrofoam box with a plexiglass lid with a heat lamp and 100W bulb..you could try that..good luck!!! i am on day 6 with my very first batch and yes, patience is horrible

100 w seems high. I had a copier sized box to hatch out these chicks, and I used a 50 w.

I built my own bator and used a 25 w and it worked just fine

yeah my current 8x9'' has a 15w and it holds the heat well.

Hatched: 1
Zipping: 1
Externally pipped: 4
Internally pipped: 3
Total: 9 hatch attempts so far out of 19 eggs

Ugh the suspense is killing me! Mine aren't chirping or anything its day 21. By the way what does zipping mean?

Zipping is when a chick begins to crack around the air sac to push himself out

Ok, I have run into a little predicament. Two of my chicks have yolk sacs. One of them (whom I named squirt) doesn't have that much of a problem. While the other one, Robin, has much yolk sac and navel still exposed. I have never had this happen before, so I figure that I and all of you will probably be able to lean from these two chicks
