Hatch day fears

I have eggs to go into lock down tomorrow (day 18), but looking at the air cell it looks like they can go one more day without a lock down, and I put them in late in the day the day I set them in the bator, so I am going to consider Fri. the hatch day and lock'm down on Tue.

How many hatches have you done?

ah gotcha! This is my first and I now have 5 bantam eggs in the incubator :) We have 2 more to hatch any day now. Just waiting! Its so fun an rewarding, I never expected it to be this way. When do we need to start giving them feed and water? How hot does the brooder need to be?

95-90 first week down 5 degrees each week until week 6. food and water by day 2 is best. dip the chicks beak in water that has a bit of sugar in it. what kind of waterer/feeder do you have. what kind of feed?

I would suggest medicated feed if you want to help ensure your chicks don't get coccidiosis, but I have also used Dumor chick starter/grower. If you don't use medicated you'll just have to keep a closer eye for any signs of sickness. You should use a baby chick feeder and waterer and put marbles at the bottom of the waterer so the chicks don't drown themselves. And I know hatching is so rewarding, isn't it? :)

I have the right water feeder, but just have a dish for feed. I will get one when I go get the feed. Its so cute! It hasn't fluffed out all the way yet but it is getting there, and moving around much better. I just can't believe I actually hatched 1! We didn't think it would work but sure enough we now have a chick!
