I need that hammer. I need it NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Congrats to the first pipper and those babies coming out under their momma!!!!

I'm not quite ready for a hammer, but I keep having to tell myself not to pull them out and candle them just one more time. lol Maybe those babies in there were all my imagination, after all.

man, I have to go now, and won't be home for four full hours! How will I stand it if I can't check my temps every thirty seconds?

Y'all just need to hatch a WHOLE LOT more eggs and get over the stress...
I've gotten so used to it now that I've had eggs hatch in the turner because I forgot that they were ready to move over. They're going to do what they're going to do, whether we're there to watch it or not. In fact, I don't even look until I hear someone screaming at me "Come get me outta here!!!"

Honestly Mark, I'd be tickled if these here hatch feather neck and YOU get a NN green-egger chick

Hi Sara! I think blue cuckoo is a possibility (the roo has the barring gene). I bet it is a cutie. Send me pics when you get a chance.

Good luck with the rest of them, 3 Sisters Farm!

If I had ever had a successful hatch out of the four batches I've tried (or if even half of the eggs I had put in the bator this time had made it to day 18), I'd probably take it way easier, but I can't help but be anxious....I'm hoping someday to be in your shoes!

Oh, and my friends' mom said she'd watch the kids, so I guess I won't spend the night worrying about the temps from afar after all. lol

LOL! If you've read a couple of my other threads, I've only had one good hatch from shipped chicken eggs all summer. Out of about 20 shipments of eggs, I was lucky to get one chick... most of the time only 3 or 4 eggs would go in the hatcher, and sometimes all would die after putting them in there. I have some VERY expensive chicks.... I figured my one red dorking is worth $60, my one Silver Grey Dorking is worth about $100, and my BBS orpingtons? Priceless. I just lost my first Blue Orpington, Sapphire, to Cocci... it was the hardest thing ever to tell Speckledhen/Cynthia that I had lost her. She was shaping up to be a show-quality bird...

I was thinking that was you. Thankfully a number of my eggs (from previous incubations, anyway) came from my own birds, so I wasn't out anything for those eggs, but I had a batch of guinea eggs, and these eggs that I paid to have shipped in. I'm thinking I'm somewhere in the $75 range for hatching eggs now. It sure would be nice if I got at least three out of the batch, though $25 per bird still seems ridiculous.

My muscovy had a nest she was sitting on earlier this month, the cayuga eggs should have hatched this week as well, but she's off the nest and I swear the eggs disappeared, I have no idea what happened to them, but I didn't worry about those--I knew she was young and may not sit them the whole time. I'm sure predators didn't get to them because of where her eggs were, but I don't know what she did with them.

My other muscovy hen has started a nest. I'm thinking I might just toss them in the bator this weekend and see what happens. One of my hens has been laying in there too. lol

Shipping south and east is easier on the eggs for some reason. So find someone north and west of you to buy eggs from.

Better yet, find someone in your own state to get eggs from. My own eggs do fine, like yours, but I have to ship eggs or chicks to get the breeds I want, and it's too late to get both in some cases. I'm going to practice my patience and wait until Spring.

Oh... gamebird eggs do really well shipping, though... I've had really good hatch rates from my quail eggs. My chukars not so much, but still, 70 out of 97 isn't bad.

The only time I stress a hatch is if I'm going to be gone when they're due. And my chukars are due this Sunday while we're in Anchorage to check out the competition at the Fair...

Maybe I'll have a good hatch if I'm not there to stare at them. LOL!

(could your duck have moved her nest? I've heard they do that...)
