I lurked this and set a few on September 18th (okay, okay...I set a few on September 21st and 24th as well. I'm Psittacinekane and I'm a chicken addict) .

The first peep signaling internal pipping was heard this morning.

Thanks again to Great "Momma" Grumbach! This incubator is a trooper and (when I'm on the ball enough to set up her properly) she never lets me down.

IMPRESS, what color of cochin bantams do you have incubated?

What is the cheapest, worth having, incubator? Does anyone know? I have read and read on BYC but I was really hoping I was missing one.
My husband said I can't spend any more money on eggs( he says wait til ours lay), And he asks, "what do you need a big incubator for?"

Well darnit, I am addicted to chickens and peacocks like crazy now and I would love to hatch some!
Well more than the possible 3 w/my son's little tiny icubator that I don't even know will hatch any!
That's what I NEED it for!

Homeschool mother of , 7 peacocks, 2 juvenile whites, 2 juvenile India Blues, 1 BS IB cock, 1 IB hen, 1 IB ( their son) cock 1 1/2 years getting his first train now.
16 Golden Laced Cochin Bantams, 1 Old English Wheaton Bantam, 5 EE. 2 dogs.

Good Morning, Day 22! I woke to SIX Baby chicks! (There were 4 when I went to sleep) Zoom, Bobbi, Jackolyn, Lazy. So Far. There are two eggs with a tiny lil hole, and one is completely unzipped but the little critter hasn't jumped out yet. The firstborns are now bonking and poking the newly hatched chicks with their beaks. Is it time to open the thing up and relocate to babies that are dried out to their foster mother? My broody cochin Aubrey has been incubating a Ping Pong ball since May, I think it's about time it hatched. The relocating of two orphaned chickens from my daughters-friends-flock went EXTREMELY well, so I wanna try that again, and then my only job will be to feed/water and let outside on nice days. The MaMa Chicken can deal with the rough stuff, like discipline! Then I'm ALWAYS the nice mommy! Anyways, back to my issue of sibling rivalry~I can't stand looking in that window at a sopping wet and worn out floppy chickie getting his noggin bonked by a bully big brother/sister! BUT, I worry that if I open that incubator it will let out the precious warmth and humidity that has been maintained throughout this process and I will destroy my unhatched chicks chances at a happy hatch day. SO...do I just let the babies sort out their differences on their own until I'm certain that all have hatched who are going to, OR do I try to take the Fluffies out? PS~I am working on pix...but due to computer/phone/camera difficulties my pictures are trapped inside of devices of various sorts, I will be working on them today!

Lock down is tomorrow, I candled my last time this morning. Even at 30-35% humidity the air cells seem too small to me. *sigh* not much I can do except hope and wait.
